Mental health is an integral part of overall well-being. With 1 in 5 adults in the U.S. living with a mental illness, people often suffer in silence due to the widespread stigma and miseducation, especially in the workplace. And healthcare is no exception, with the nation's workforce shortage compounded by factors such as burnout. Our new series, #MindfulHealthcare, aims to inform, empower and advocate for improved mental health outcomes for all. Join us: https://bit.ly/4gO4Zzp

Representation matters in healthcare, especially in the realm of women’s health. During #MenopauseAwarenessMonth, Ross University School of Medicine alumna and menopause expert Dr. Jessica Shepherd, MD, MBA, FACOG joined Adtalem’s very own SVP, Chief Communications and Corporate Affairs Officer blake simpson for an insightful segment on DC News Now to discuss this and Dr. Shepherd’s new book “Generation M”. Watch the segment below!

So many women have no idea what to expect when entering perimenopause and menopause. 🙋🏽♀️I didn't, especially as a Black woman. Jessica Shepherd, MD, MBA, FACOG, a board-certified OB/GYN and alumna of Adtalem Global Education's Ross University School of Medicine, is on a mission to change that. I've been honored to join her this week as she speaks about the importance of preparing for menopause and self-advocacy, particularly for women of color who often see providers outside of their race/ethnicity. 👀 Just 11% of OB/GYNs in this country are Black. Dr. Shepherd is an example of why our work at Adtalem is so important. Not only are we diversifying the healthcare workforce, but also doing it with exceptional people who are improving outcomes for all. For your viewing pleasure, here's our segment on Living Local DMV. 🍿
