The AdventHealth Digestive Health Institute Tampa is leading the way in new solutions for colorectal cancer patients! ISWANTO SUCANDY, MD, FACS recently performed a Hepatic Artery Infusion (HAI) pump implant surgery at AdventHealth Tampa. This advanced therapy is offered to patients with hard-to-treat cancers, delivering treatment directly to metastatic tumors in the liver, while minimizing the potential for systemic side effects. This was the first HAI pump implant surgery in the Tampa Bay area, making AdventHealth Tampa one of only six hospitals in Florida offering this kind of care for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. AdventHealth Tampa is also the first in the state of Florida to use robotic placement for this pump. Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month is a fitting time to implement this powerful treatment option.
