Preservation in the Wake of Natural Disasters How do you preserve communities that have been devastated and damaged due to hurricanes, wildfires, and other natural disasters? What does heritage mean when the physical footprint is altered? Focusing on the work of preservation in Asheville and Los Angeles (Altadena), this conversation will explore broad themes around community resilience, rebuilding, and the ever-shifting question about what preservation looks like when the built environment is no longer there. Speakers from both communities will examine how recent events have impacted the way they see preservation practice, and what other communities should consider as they prepare for future natural disasters.
