It's a truly impressive feat of engineering that brings the beloved superhero to life in a spectacular way.  This high-tech robot makes its own, real-time decisions when to tuck, somersault and slow down while soaring 85 feet in the air. When OpenAI unveiled GPT-4, the company published an eye-popping list of professional and academic assessments that it claimed its new large language model had aced, including a couple of dozen high school tests and the bar exam. But GPT-4 isn't a person. It's a large language model. China introduces human like female robots to the world during the Beijing World Robot Conference. These are actual robots not people pretending to be robots. The conference had 27 types of humanoid robots on display. Both cool and creepy in equal measure… I do hope my future robot looks like a robot rather than a human. This is wild. Disney is not just about movies anymore. They're building humanoid robots that can move like us. Right now, I get it… It's got that Terminator-esque look. But imagine it with skin—we're talking uncannily human-like. So what's the magic behind this? • 19 degrees of freedom for realistic head and eye movements • Attention engine identifies and responds to interesting stimuli nearby • Mimics human-like behaviours such as saccades (rapid eye movements) and habituation (decreased response to repeated stimuli) My take on where this is heading: • Next decade: Humanoids move from factories to our homes • Next two decades: They develop human-like emotions through self-learning • Next five decades: Talking to a human or humanoid might be indistinguishable Is this the start of "Ex Machina" in real life?
