Cortical computation in the brain only costs 0.1 W (of ATP) while it is learning continually- whereas #AI or #ML struggles to match this. How can we harness this efficiency? An engineer's exploration on this topic at the #MIT Kresge auditorium last week. We shared how brain's plasticity inspires us to develop new continual learning algorithms and address catastrophic forgetting, at the #CCN2024 Keynote and Tutorial session. Gido van de Ven gave an excellent hands-on tutorial on continual learning scenarios with replay and regularization with Nicholas Soures. Science without walls!
