Join SFF for another Architects Roundtable - this one focusing on how to estimate construction costs! The "roundtable" format will have the group share their experiences, questions, suggestions about the construction cost estimating process during design for residential projects. We may have with us some general contractors who customarily provide cost estimates during design. RSVP here: https://lnkd.in/gHQu-KtB

It’s still wine season at this #FirmFriday project! Asquared Studios’ Rivers Marie Winery “puts a modern twist on the California Barn aesthetic with its campus-style arrangement of buildings, canopied loggia, and curated wood clad exteriors. Fronting a rural highway, the geometric forms make a stark silhouette against the pastoral landscape. Simple and unadorned, except for the label’s red swallow logo that swoops down the facade, the design carefully frames views of the Palisades Mountain Range while embracing the bucolic setting. Although the winery makes a strong statement from the street, pitched roofs, the smaller-scaled cluster of buildings, and naturally-lit and ventilated spaces evoke the countryside’s simplicity.” #aiaebdesignawards #aia #architecture #design Photography by Adam Potts Photography

THIS THURSDAY! According to neuroscientist Dan Siegel, PhD, a conscious leader is one who is able to harness the characteristics of conscious awareness in ways that inspire others to become their best selves, optimize how they solve problems, and find innovative approaches to their company’s challenges and goals. Conscious leadership, therefore, enhances and expands an individual’s and an organization’s capacity to purposefully, intentionally create. In this 90-minute interactive session, we'll explore together how we might break down self-limiting habits and narratives, cultivate courage, expand what we see is possible, and wholeheartedly create the future we envision -- for ourselves and for those around us. We'll learn a practical tool to help us shift from reactivity to creativity, from fear to trust, and from burnout to growth, learning, and thriving. And we'll explore the Four Pillars of Conscious Leadership—awareness, connection, insight, and purpose—and how building these deepens our capacity to meet our challenges with the generative mindset that effectively brings positive change. Today’s #FirmFriday is powered up! Welcome to Austin Energy Headquarters by ELS Architecture and Urban Design - Design Architect; Page - Architect of Record. “As part of its commitment to staff wellbeing, Austin Energy sought to provide meaningful amenities for its workforce, including a large internal courtyard that is an outdoor oasis with a shaded “amphitheater” space, bocce court, and a variety of seating options for social interaction and meetings. Providing the ultimate in flexibility, the design employs future-proofing strategies such as open floor departmental layouts that use flexible partitioning and large touchdown areas enabling the company to change with the demands of flexible work arrangements and the fluctuating needs of in-office staff.” #aiaebdesignawards #aia #architecture #design Photography by Emphatic Creative Media; Peter Molick
