National Southern HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NSHAD) - August 20th Today, we come together to recognize National Southern HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, a time to shine a light on the impact of HIV/AIDS in the Southern United States. The South accounts for over half of all new HIV diagnoses in the U.S., and it's vital that we address the unique challenges faced by our communities. * Why Focus on the South? Higher rates of HIV/AIDS compared to other regions Limited access to healthcare in rural areas Stigma and discrimination that prevent many from seeking help * What Can You Do? Get Tested: Know your status and encourage others to do the same. Educate: Learn about HIV prevention and treatment options.
