National Southern HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NSHAD) - August 20th Today, we come together to recognize National Southern HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, a time to shine a light on the impact of HIV/AIDS in the Southern United States. The South accounts for over half of all new HIV diagnoses in the U.S., and it's vital that we address the unique challenges faced by our communities. * Why Focus on the South? Higher rates of HIV/AIDS compared to other regions Limited access to healthcare in rural areas Stigma and discrimination that prevent many from seeking help * What Can You Do? Get Tested: Know your status and encourage others to do the same. Educate: Learn about HIV prevention and treatment options. Support: Stand with those affected by HIV/AIDS and combat stigma. *Spread the Word: Use your voice to raise awareness and share resources. Together, we can make a difference in our communities and move closer to an HIV-free generation. #SHAAD #EndHIV #SouthernHIVAIDSAwareness #GetTested #HIVAwareness #EndTheStigma #AOCFortWorth Let's work together for a healthier future!

Today, on World AIDS Day, we remember those lost to HIV and AIDS, and reaffirm our commitment to ending this pandemic. Since the first reported case of HIV in 1981, the virus has claimed the lives of over 40 million people worldwide. Today, over 39 million people are living with HIV, and an estimated 1.3 million people acquired HIV the prior year. (UNAIDS/WHO) HIV/AIDS remains a global health crisis. In many parts of the world, access to antiretroviral treatment remains limited, and stigma and discrimination continue to hinder prevention efforts. On World AIDS Day, we recommit to: ➡ Ensuring that everyone has access to life-saving HIV prevention, testing, and treatment services ➡ Fighting stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV ➡ Investing in research to find a cure for HIV/AIDS #WorldAIDSDay #HIV #AIDS #EndAIDS #RememberAndCommit #RightToHealth #EndTheStigma
