This week is MRI Safety Week! MRI is an incredibly powerful tool for diagnosis and guiding interventions when coupled with the right equipment and training. AiM Medical Robotics has a fully MRI-compatible surgical robot that can safely perform neurosurgery procedures inside the bore of high-field MRI scanners while acquiring high-quality, high-resolution intraoperative imaging? This is no easy task, and is based on 20 years of R&D starting at Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering and Brigham and Women's Hospital, including substantial peer-reviewed funding from The National Institutes of Health, highly-cited publications that laid the groundwork for the field from our founders Gregory Fischer and Julie Pilitsis, and a large IP portfolio developed at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. We at AiM Medical Robotics look forward changing how we think about truly direct image-guided surgery!!

AiM Medical Robotics is very proud to be a part of the PracticePoint accelerator's ecosystem at Worcester Polytechnic Institute! This facility at WPI, built with the generous support of Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, has enabled us to tremendously accelerate our development and testing in a way most companies can only dream about. These preclinical trials (right down the hall from our offices) have set the stage for exciting first-in-human trials for DBS lead placement inside the MRI scanner that begin later this year at BWH in Boston! AiM is also happy to support the center and have our CEO Gregory Fischer on the PracticePoint Advisory board.
PracticePoint showcased the integration of the facility's capabilities in facilitating the precise delivery of bilateral Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) through real-time MRI guidance. Our fully-functional Operating Room, MRI Suite, and conference center and staff support for studies played pivotal roles in enabling Start-Up AiM Medical Robotics to conduct successful pre-clinical trial studies. This collaboration underscores the power of cutting-edge technology and collaborative spaces in advancing medical innovation.
