This week, Alabama marked a somber anniversary. Hurricane Ivan made landfall near Gulf Shores as a Category 3 storm on September 16, 2004, devastating our state. Ivan was a catalyst for change, and it led to a movement to build stronger so Alabamians can live safer. We knew we couldn’t stop the storms from coming, but we could find ways to build more resiliently. Through partners like the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety - IBHS and Smart Home America, we have now built 50,000 Fortified homes in Alabama. More than 7,500 of those homes were the result of a Strengthen Alabama Homes grant. We’d like to thank Governor Kay Ivey and Senator Katie Britt for their resounding support for Strengthen Alabama Homes and for the FORTIFIED program. We look forward to continuing the work of making Alabama a safer place to live. See more: https://lnkd.in/etvJYSdW

We interrupt your regularly scheduled LinkedIn feed for a very important pupdate. Jimpy turns 8 this week. 🎂 Jimpy is one of our two working arson detection dogs for the State Fire Marshal's Office. He accompanies his handler, Deputy State Fire Marshal Riley Foshee, on fire scene investigations. Happy birthday to a doggone good investigator and an all-around good boy.
