  • This week we were honored to welcome Jonathan Noble to Alaska for a series of insightful discussions! From a thought-provoking luncheon at Bear Tooth with community members and students from Romig Middle School, South Anchorage High School, and UAA, to a meeting with our valued partners at the Ted Stevens Center, his visit was full of meaningful connections. Jonathan also engaged with UAA faculty and spoke directly to students at South High School during an in-school visit. ⁣ This program wouldn't have been possible without Notre Dame dad and one of our fantastic board members, Richard Marshall, who helped coordinate with the Notre Dame Global Hesburgh Lecture Series and delivered the welcoming remarks at the event. We also want to thank our generous board members and supporters, Dr. Dunscomb, Diane Hirshberg, and Greg Wolf, who helped entertain Mr. Noble during his visit. And as always, a huge thank you to our sponsors ConocoPhillips and the Atwood Foundation. Thank you to all who joined us in exploring what China’s rise means for U.S. higher education!

  • 🎉 🇫🇷 We had a great time yesterday at the Bastille Day celebration hosted by AKWorld board member, Melanie Lucas-Conwell. This event brought together community members who share a deep interest in France and its rich history. ⁣ Bastille Day, celebrated on July 14th, commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789, a pivotal event that sparked the French Revolution. It symbolizes the unity of the French people and the triumph of liberty, equality, and fraternity. ⁣ A huge thank you to Melanie for her incredible hospitality and for organizing such a memorable evening. Your dedication to fostering cultural exchange and community spirit is truly appreciated. Merci beaucoup, Melanie!

  • Yesterday we had the honor of attending the 11th Airborne Division Change of Command Ceremony, where we witnessed Major General Brian S. Eifler pass command to Major General Joseph E. Hilbert. As if on cue, a bald eagle soared overhead during the ceremony, symbolizing the freedom and strength our service members protect. Our organization deeply values our partnership with the military, working together to bring global perspectives and world events to Alaska. We extend our deepest gratitude to Major General Eifler for his exemplary leadership and warmly welcome Major General Hilbert as he takes on this vital role.

  • AKWorld President and CEO, Lisa Eyler, is currently in San Francisco along with akIBC CEO, Greg Wolf, building invaluable connections with General Consuls in the area. We are excited about this opportunity to forge relationships that will bring engaging and diverse speakers to Alaska, to further enrich our community with global perspectives! 🌎
