    Interim County Attorney Announced: The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors has appointed Andy Herrick as Interim County Attorney following the retirement of County Attorney Steve Rosenberg. The decision was made during the board meeting on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. Herrick will officially assume the position on September 1, 2024. "We are pleased to appoint Andy Herrick as our Interim County Attorney," said Albemarle County Board of Supervisors Chair Jim Andrews. "Mr. Herrick brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record through his years of dedicated service to Albemarle County. We are confident in his ability to take on this leadership role with continued integrity and excellence." As Interim County Attorney, Mr. Herrick will be responsible for providing legal counsel to the Board of Supervisors, representing the County in legal matters, and overseeing the operations of the County Attorney’s Office. "I am looking forward to working closely with Mr. Herrick as he steps into this position,” added County Executive Jeff Richardson. “His experience and understanding of our county's needs will be invaluable as we continue to serve our community.” Mr. Herrick has over 29 years of experience, including 25 years in public service within local government. He currently serves as the Deputy County Attorney for Albemarle County, where he has primarily worked with the Community Development, Finance, and Social Services departments. Additionally, he holds the position of President-Elect of the Local Government Attorneys of Virginia. Previously, Mr. Herrick served as the Assistant County Attorney for James City County and worked in private practice with the Williamsburg City Attorney. He earned his undergraduate degree, law degree, and Master of Business Administration from the College of William & Mary. “I’d like to thank the Board of Supervisors for this opportunity,” stated Andy Herrick. “I am humbled, honored, and excited to serve the Board and the county in this new role.” The announcement of Mr. Rosenberg’s retirement can be found here >https://lnkd.in/e3jTyM5x.

    Welcome Emily Kilroy, Interim Director of Economic Development!

    Emily Kilroy, who has most recently served as the Assistant to the County Executive, will step into the role of Interim Director of Economic Development. Over the past year, Emily has been instrumental in helping shape the work of the Rivanna Futures project through continued interaction with both state and federal agencies. In her new capacity, Emily will lead efforts to update the Economic Development Strategic Plan, Project ENABLE 2.0, as well as to continue her state legislative work in coordination with County departments and the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission. We're grateful for Emily's willingness to take on this important responsibility and look forward to her contributions in driving our Economic Development initiatives forward.   As Emily transitions into this new role, we would like to extend our gratitude to outgoing director, Barry Albrecht, and thank him for his time and service to Albemarle County   #EnableAlbemarle #EconomicDevelopment #Leadership #AlbemarleCounty

    The Board of Supervisors has proclaimed May 5 through May 11, 2024 as Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW) in Albemarle County, VA. Over 900 Albemarle County Local Government employees work tirelessly to serve our residents, businesses, and visitors, providing them with outstanding customer service while maintaining careful stewardship of the resources with which they have been entrusted. We call upon the Albemarle County community to recognize the significant and important contribution that public employees make to our community.
