At 1130 K St. in Downtown Sacramento, a gleaming glass terrace rests above the former Weinstock's department store. The building's renovation, which converted the former retail area into Class A office space, stands 74 feet above the street, with 192,000 square feet across six floors. The 42,000 square foot addition on top of the existing building offers a simple modern form that steps back from the ornate facade while providing a contrast intended to highlight the original detailing dating back to 1924. Alcal Specialty Contracting, working alongside developer and architect BAUEN FUND 2018-1130 LLC, knew the project would have its challenges. Constantly communicating with Bauen on scheduling crews and materials lead times, Alcal's trained experts installed thermal rigid board insulation, batt insulation, firestop, and fireproofing throughout the two-story addition. We were grateful to work on this historical project and look forward to expanding our community.

Located in the apex of North Las Vegas, the Moonwater West project is a 1 million square foot state-of-the-art facility. Opening later this year, this cross-dock building will feature a BTS office, 180 dock doors, ESFR sprinkler system and abundant auto & trailer parking. Alcal’s Multi-Product Division was awarded the insulation from the great team at Martin-Harris Construction LLC. Alcal installed 1 million square feet of R19 insulation and scrim across the panel deck. We are thankful for everyone who has made this project a success and look forward to continuing to build on 50 years of contracting excellence.

The new Westbrook Elementary School welcomed hundreds of students in #Roseville, CA for the 2023-2024 school year. Located on a 12-acre site, the 52,000 square-foot campus, composed of over 800 students, consists of four classroom buildings, one kindergarten building, one administration building, and a multi-purpose building. Clark/Sullivan Construction choose the trusted employees at Alcal Specialty Contracting, Inc. to install the exterior rigid board (Z furring and board), batt insulation, and firestop/acoustic systems. We appreciate the opportunity to work with Clark/Sullivan to expand the growing community of West Roseville.

Over 550 students from around Northern California will be participating in the annual Construction Industry Education Foundation Design Build Competition. These students will compete in a two day, hands on event where they will design and build a structure for our community. Good luck to all the students and mentors involved.
