A great insight into how Homeland Security manages a post-pandemic building. We've supported clients by helping them evaluate and manage telework policies--which is more than simply counting how many chairs you may need for everyone. This article highlights some great steps for success: 1. Evaluate who truly needs to be in the office. Some folks, like maintenance techs and IT support, will always need to have an in-person presence to troubleshoot issues happening on your campus. 2. Decide what matters. Are you struggling with employee retention in specific roles? Will the savings from cutting down on square footage be negated if you need to implement a software solution for hoteling? Make sure the data and cost estimates align with your goals. 3. Encourage feedback. You likely have some smart people at your organization, who may have ideas or concerns you haven't though of yet. Make sure members of your project or change management team are visible and available to your employees. 4. Do the difficult things now. Many organizations hesitate to do much-needed updates to their processes--such as digitizing paper files, deploying a room or workstation reservation system, or even something as simple as a building-wide clean out day. The longer you wait, the more painful the process can be. 5. If you want people in the office more frequently, make sure your space has everything they need to be productive. This could be a quiet space for heads-down work, or a dedicated team space for groups who need more collaboration time. The small things matter too--clean and well-lit spaces do make a difference. High-vacancy spaces can be managed--as long as you have the right strategy. Our goal is always to work with clients to understand their needs of individual employees and the agency as a whole, creating tailored solutions based on research and data. #returntooffice #rto #government #federaltelework #remotework #facilitymanagement #spaceplanning #spacemanagement https://lnkd.in/etPcj6qz
