STOP THE KILLING OF PUERTO RICO CATS ❗ ON OCTOBER 1, 2024, the U.S. National Park Service will start acting to round up community cats in Puerto Rico. Cats will be killed if the NPS isn't stopped. Alley Cat Allies filed a historic lawsuit against the NPS in March and we won't back down with these cats' lives on the line. But we need you with us. Watch, share, protect the cats of the Paseo del Morro: alleycat.org/PuertoRico

Why is eartipping the preferred method to identify spayed or neutered and vaccinated community cats? Because an eartip is visible from a distance (an ear notch or a tattoo, not so much). If a community cat is eartipped during #TNR, there's far less chance he or she will be unnecessarily re-trapped. Learn more: alleycat.org/Eartip #FeralTuesday

Happy #FeralTuesday! Since we're so close to Halloween, it's important to remember that community cats will most likely stay out of the way of any "ghouls" and "goblins" roaming the streets. However, we recommend tracking the community cats you care for and taking more time to keep an eye out for them in the days after Halloween. In fact, tracking all community cats in a colony is best practice every day of the year! Keep a list, include descriptions/photos of the cats, where they typically hang out, their age, if they've been spayed or neutered through #TNR and when, etc.

A critical element of Trap-Neuter-Return (#TNR) is ensuring community cats are comfortable in their humane traps as they await spay and neuter surgery and during recovery. We have tips and tricks to guide advocates: https://ow.ly/yTo250TUOgj

Happy National Black Cat Day! 🐈⬛ This close to Halloween, it's critical to spread the word that harmful myths about black cats are not based in fact and never were. In fact, if you see or share your life with a black cat, consider yourself lucky and celebrate today! After all, the only bad luck following black cats--or any cat--is people’s superstitions.

As Pedro--a kitten in our care--demonstrates, kittens' eyes are blue until their permanent eye color comes in. Typically, that's when they're around 6 - 8 weeks old! Learn more kitten age milestones at https://lnkd.in/g7kDG_JE.
