Meet Doris! This shy chimpanzee is one of the oldest on the islands at HSI's Second Chance Chimpanzee Rescue Liberia. After losing her mother to hunters and being sold as a pet, Doris ended up in a Liberian lab in 1981, where she endured 25 years of harmful experiments and poor conditions. In 2004, Doris and her fifth baby, Dorvelee, were moved to Island 5. Doris is enjoying her “retirement,” relaxing with her son and friends. She loves pineapples 🍍 and adores apples 🍎 as a treat! #WorldChimpanzeeDay

With the general election weeks away, UK political parties are urged to tap into the 'paw power' of animal-loving voters.
