  • Last week, we were honored to host the Food and Nutrition Meeting of the United Way at our office! It was a fantastic opportunity to discuss crucial topics surrounding food, nutrition, and health in our community. We were thrilled to have Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick join us and share her insights on the Farm Bill in Congress and her bill to fund programming addressing the obesity epidemic. Her dedication to these issues is truly inspiring! Check out these photos from the event, featuring engaging discussions and valuable networking. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to this important conversation. Together, we can make a difference! #FoodAndNutrition #UnitedWay #CommunityHealth #FarmBill #ObesityEpidemic #CongresswomanMcCormick

  • A message from our CEO, Marc D. Hopin   Tomorrow is Holocaust Remembrance Day, and the importance of this day is even greater as we are still living under the cloud of the massacre in Israel on October 7th. It is a poignant time for reflection and solidarity. Our agency, through its Holocaust Program, continues to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those who endured the unimaginable.   Thanks to our collective efforts, and with the help of funding from the Claims Conference, KAVOD Shef, the State of Florida, and donors from our community, we are currently assisting approximately 200 Holocaust survivors. This is an affirmation of our commitment to compassion and the embodiment of Jewish values in action. Each survivor we empower is a living testament to their courage, and our work is an acknowledgment of their heroism.   Holocaust Remembrance Day reminds us of the importance of preserving the memories of the past while actively working to enlighten and educate our community so that we never forget what happened. Our agency plays a vital role in this process, and your dedication to our work is critical to our success.   As we honor this day and face the challenges that lie ahead, let us find inspiration in the words of Viktor Frankl, a Holocaust survivor, and renowned psychiatrist, who said, "Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way." May we continue to illuminate the path toward a future that honors the resilience of survivors and embraces the principles we hold dear.   Shabbat Shalom, have a great weekend, and continue to pray for the safety of all Israel and the release of the hostages held in Gaza.
