This Tuesday, we had the pleasure of hosting Alex Maldonado on campus for our first Money Matters financial literacy event of the year! 🎉 It was an engaging and insightful session where Alex shared his expertise and personal experiences, emphasizing the significance of financial education in the Hispanic community. He challenged us to be mindful of our financial goals and recognize the impact we can make as informed individuals. A big thank you to Alex for taking the time to connect with us and for the meaningful conversation. We look forward to welcoming him back for more sessions in the future!

This past weekend, our ALPFA UNC GREENSBORO members had the incredible opportunity to attend the Leadership Summit at Queens University. It was an inspiring day of growth, connection, and learning as we joined both new and returning faces to engage with professionals and explore opportunities at the Career Expo. The summit kicked off with a warm welcome from ALPFA CLT's co-presidents, followed by our powerful keynote speaker Dr. Loretta Evivie who shared insights on this year’s theme, "Reframe Your Story." Two key takeaways for me: * Reframing your story involves recognizing and valuing your allies and sponsors. They often appear when you least expect it, making a meaningful impact. * Mental health advocacy is crucial within the Hispanic community. It’s important to recognize that while love and care are central values, they can sometimes come at a cost if we neglect healthy boundaries. Our generation has a responsibility to lead the way in prioritizing mental well-being and advocating for change. Thank you, ALPFA CLT, for hosting such a fantastic event! Students, if you’re looking to connect with a supportive community and network with top companies, consider joining ALPFA. We’d love to have you as part of our journey!

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of being invited to be part of an amazing panel in UNC Greensboro by ALPFA UNC GREENSBORO in collaboration with CEO UNCG and Net Impact. It was my first time post college, being part of a panel in person. I was able to share my experience as a Hispanic professional and the path I took to get where I am at today. I enjoyed being able to share my story and connecting with students. Thank you ALPFA UNCG for inviting me and providing an avenue to give back to students and experiencing first hand what being on the professional side is like. As a student I have always wanted to give back like other professionals did when I was a student. ALPFA Charlotte

Incoming Summer 2025 PwC CMAAS Consulting Intern | Vice President of Finance - UNCG Management Consulting Club | Staff Accountant at BreslowStarling
I had the opportunity to moderate a discussion last night with professionals who shared their “horror stories” with students at University of North Carolina at Greensboro! We discussed tips on handling conflict in teams, peers, and managers, how to handle uncomfortable conversations, and sharing advice with students on how to make the “campus to corporate” transition successfully. Thank you to Crystal D. Martin William Kenney and Kevin Serratos-Prudencio for bringing their knowledge and experience to the students here at the Bryan School of Business and Economics at UNCG! Thank you also to ALPFA UNC GREENSBORO and UNCG Management Consulting Club for co-sponsoring this event with our group and I hope to host many more events together!

Grateful for the opportunity to attend the ALPFA Charlotte Leadership Summit: Reframing Your Story! This event was truly inspiring, bringing together driven professionals and providing powerful insights on personal and professional growth. A key takeaway for me was the importance of reframing your story to unlock new opportunities and reflect your growth. By looking at our journeys from fresh perspectives, we can transform challenges into strengths and build a stronger, more intentional path forward. Last week, I had the privilege of attending the ALPFA Inc - Association of Latino Professionals For America (ALPFA) Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. I want to express my sincere gratitude to Ally and ALPFA Charlotte for sponsoring my participation. It was an incredibly inspiring experience that surpassed all expectations. I am grateful for the opportunity to witness empowering speakers at Women of ALPFA and to connect with professionals who left a lasting impression on me! I arrived at the ALPFA Convention feeling both nervous and excited, unsure of what to expect. As a woman in Computer Science, the journey has been challenging, but hearing the opportunities and stories shared by both students and professionals amplified my admiration for ALPFA. I’m especially grateful to the members of ALPFA UNC GREENSBORO, who made this incredible opportunity possible! I left the ALPFA Convention deeply inspired by the other student chapters in attendance. Hearing about the meaningful impact these chapters have on their members was truly heartwarming. Along this journey, I met incredible individuals who have become lifelong friends, and I will cherish these connections for years to come.

This past week, I had the privilege of attending my second ALPFA Convention, alongside over 40 members from our ALPFA UNC GREENSBORO chapter. As the largest Latino professional event in the US, this year’s theme, “Re{frame} Your Story,” resonated deeply with me. It emphasized the importance of owning and telling your unique story. A reminder that our narratives are powerful and deserve to be shared. With 6,300+ attendees, including 1,700 students, and over 100 career fair partners, this convention was nothing short of impactful and inspiring. I had the opportunity to reconnect with chapter leaders and professionals while also creating new connections have impacted me. I’m incredibly proud of our UNCG ALPFAmilia for making the most of their convention experience. For many of our members, it was their first time attending a conference. We spent all summer preparing with workshops, engagements, and multiple reviews to ensure they were ready. Their hard work truly paid off, as many secured offers, won scholarships, and, most importantly expanded their network by forming valuable new connections. Congratulations to everyone who achieved these milestones! They owned their stories and took control of their narratives, and I couldn’t be prouder. I’m grateful to be part of such a strong and supportive chapter. A special thank you to our Executive Board, Bryan School of Business and Economics at UNCG, McRae (Mac) Banks, Marisa G. González, Augusto Peña, Officer Granados, Valentin Perez, Charlize Melendez, and all ALPFA Charlotte for your support and dedication to our chapter’s success. Your efforts made this experience possible for all of us. A heartfelt thank you to the ALPFA Inc - Association of Latino Professionals For America national team for organizing such an exceptional convention. Together, we are not just reframing our stories, we’re creating a legacy of success and empowerment for the entire ALPFAmilia
