Pace Machine & Tool Inc. has been a staple in Florida's manufacturing sector for over four decades. With a need for talented machinists, the Stuart-based aerospace shop turned to an America's Cutting Edge bootcamp at Advanced Manufacturing Hub at IRSC only a couple years ago. Pace President Monica Dirr shares that she not only hired an ACE grad from that camp - but because of their success, another new hire was sent to a bootcamp only two weeks into his employment. We'll have more on the stories of those two employees later, but for now, we share Monica's advice to other businesses in need of talent: Go to a bootcamp and talk with participants. Shelby Mayer is more than just a Mississippi State University student - she's also an entrepreneur. Shelby has a business that produces personalized designs for shirts, cups, backpacks and more. Needless to say, she stays busy! Shelby went through ACE and says the training will be invaluable for the road ahead. “This training was very useful in allowing me to acquire essential skills that I will greatly need in my career as an engineer," she said.
