Our Hampden Landfill Solar Project has been nominated for Solar Builder Magazine's Project of the Year, and we need your vote! Located on a capped landfill in Hampden, MA, the project combines a solar array with a DC-coupled battery energy storage system (BESS) and was designed to efficiently use land that was otherwise unsuitable for development. Voting closes tomorrow, Friday, October 11th at midnight, and you can vote once per day! How do facilities like the one at Keller Canyon help us meet our climate goals? At last week’s ribbon cutting, Liane Randolph, Chair of California Air Resources Board, emphasized the importance of RNG facilities tackling methane emissions from landfills as a critical part of the short-lived climate pollutant strategy. Congratulations again to Republic Services, Ameresco, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Anew Climate, and LoCI Controls, Inc. for collaborating on California’s largest and most resilient landfill gas (LFG) to renewable natural gas (#RNG) facility. Want to learn more about RNG? Check out our one-pager, “Understanding Renewable Natural Gas” at https://bit.ly/AboutRNG. #ICYMI #Development #RenewableGas #MethaneReduction #Sustainability

Cybersecurity in our energy infrastructure is critical, especially as the number of cyberattacks continues to rise. The latest from Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) marks a significant step forward in bolstering our grid's defenses. On September 19, FERC issued two proposed rules aimed at enhancing cybersecurity standards for the U.S. bulk-power system. These proposals are important to be aware of. The first NOPR (Docket No. RM24-4-000) calls for new or modified critical infrastructure protection standards to address supply chain risks and safeguard our grid-related cybersecurity systems. The second (Docket No. RM24-7-000) introduces internal network security monitoring requirements, ensuring tighter controls both within and beyond the electronic security perimeter. At Ameresco, we recognize the importance of staying ahead of these evolving risks. As the energy landscape continues to transform, so must our approach to cybersecurity. https://lnkd.in/eyUTBBt3 #Cybersecurity #EnergyInfrastructure #GridSecurity #FERC #EnergyResilience

Cast your vote for clean energy and innovation! Ameresco's Hampden Landfill Solar Project has been nominated as Project of the Year by Solar Builder Magazine. Use the link below to vote for our project that was recognized as a technical achievement by combining solar with a battery energy storage system (BESS) on a capped landfill that was previously unsuited for any development purpose. The project also highlights environmental stewardship by protecting over 14 acres of habitat for the state-listed Eastern Box Turtle and Wood Turtle. Our team implemented a species protection plan during construction to ensure the preservation of these turtles’ feeding, sheltering, and breeding environments, safeguarding local biodiversity. Together with Republic Services, we’ve opened California’s largest landfill gas-to-renewable natural gas (RNG) plant at Keller Canyon. This innovative project will turn landfill gas into clean energy delivered to Pacific Gas and Electric Company, reducing 62,000 metric tons of carbon emissions each year — equivalent to removing 30,000 cars from the road. It’s a major step forward for sustainability and renewable energy in California, and we’re excited to keep driving the future of clean energy forward.
