We host non-competitive cycling events on closed streets of iconic U.S. cities, making cycling safe, accessible, and fun

About us

American Bike Ride partners with iconic U.S. cities to create annual events that make bike riding more inspiring, safe, accessible, and fun for people of all ages and with a wide variety of abilities. We work to promote the health and environmental benefits of cycling; to promote safety; and to make it more affordable, particularly to marginalized communities. We encourage tourists and residents to joyfully explore and immerse themselves in cities and the surrounding scenery in ways only bicycles can support. And, we help supporters of cycling better connect with their community. We are a multi-bottom line business. A HUGE thank you to CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield for their unwavering support. It was fantastic to see so many of our riders engage with you at our Finish Festival this past Saturday, and it was wonderful to see your team riding with us. Your partnership is essential to making this event a success year after year--we truly couldn't do it without you! We can't wait to see what we achieve together next year.

DC Bike Ride is one of the region’s best opportunities to experience the nation’s most iconic monuments—and you don’t need to be a professional cyclist! This year’s ride was one of the best yet, with over 9,000 riders and thousands more cheering them on. Many of my fellow #DifferenceMakers took to the streets and valiantly pedaled the whole 20-mile course. Beyond the opportunity to experience the landmarks and stay active, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield and DC Bike Ride’s eight-year partnership benefits Dreaming Out Loud’s mission to end food insecurity through the Pedal For A Purpose program. Congratulations to all the riders. We can’t wait for next year! #CareFirstProud #DCBikeRide

It was incredibly inspiring to see the World Bank team joining us on the DC Bike Ride! Thank you for riding with us this past Saturday and for your commitment to promoting cycling as a sustainable mode of transportation. Support from organizations like the World Bank can make a significant impact in making biking safer and more accessible for everyone!

What a fantastic day at DC Bike Ride on Saturday! It was a great opportunity for the World Bank to “walk the talk” (or should I say, bike the talk?) and show our commitment to cycling as a healthy, clean, and fun transportation solution. Thank you to the World Bank Staff Association for generously sponsoring our team, and a big thank you to DC Bike Ride for organizing such an inspiring event. Special thanks as well to Leszek Sibilski—former Polish cycling champion and founder of UN World Bicycle Day—for his ongoing support and advocacy. Events like these remind us that there’s still much to do to make cycling and other forms of active mobility accessible and safe for all. Let’s continue to champion cycling as a great mobility solution for people and the planet. #ActiveMobility #SustainableTransport #HealthyLiving #DCBikeRide

🚲 There are many advantages to cycling: it is great for your physical and social health, it is a sustainable, environmentally friendly way of transportation, accessible and inclusive, and a social connector. We're thrilled to announce that the 8th annual DC Bike Ride was a resounding success! Over 9,000 riders from the DMV, 40+ states across the country, and several international embassies joined us for a beautiful day of bicycling, community, and unforgettable memories. This event wouldn't have been possible without the unwavering support of our riders, partners, and volunteers. We’d like to extend our deepest gratitude to DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, the Council of the District of Columbia, and our federal partners for their invaluable contributions—we couldn’t do it without you! A special thanks also goes to our presenting partners, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield and Events DC, for their dedication to making bicycling safe, accessible, and enjoyable for all. We're also incredibly grateful to our start-line partner, Amtrak and VIP sponsor, Telos Corporation for providing our riders with an exceptional experience. The American Bike Ride team is already looking forward to another fantastic event next year! Let's keep the momentum going and continue to help make DC and cities across the U.S. remain safe, inclusive, and enjoyable places to ride.
