On #NationalFarmersDay, explore how biogas systems on farms create a closed loop system and assist the natural cycles of recycling. It’s a very cool ⭕! Check it out ⤵️ 🌱 Farm animals graze on farmland grasses and eat hay. The animals provide food and produce manure. 💩 Manure is recycled in the #biogas system that produces either renewable heat, electricity or transportation fuel. Excess energy can be sold. 🌾 The resulting pathogen-free and odor-free digested material can become multiple products, such as animal bedding or fertilizer to grow more animal feed. ♻️ And we’re back to the beginning: The animals produce food, and their waste products can be recycled with the biogas system to produce renewable energy and grow more food. Food waste is being transformed into nutrient-rich, organic fertilizer! Through the anaerobic digestion process that occurs in a biogas system, food waste can be turned into value-added soil amendments. This valuable fertilizer can be used to improve soil health and can increase crop yields. Using it also cuts down on use of, and need for, commercial fertilizers, which contribute to pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. #BenefitsOfBiogas #Biogas #FoodWaste #StopFoodWaste

We were on Capitol Hill this morning providing a Congressional briefing on biogas systems and how they can deliver enormous economic and clean energy opportunities. Biogas project development is a win for people in rural communities and big cities alike. These systems capture methane emissions and make #renewable energy from organic waste wherever it can be found--at farms, landfills, wastewater reclamation and recovery plants, and food processing facilities--and bring clean energy jobs. Our panel of experts was led by our Policy VP Heather Dziedzic and included Andrew Cassilly of Bioenergy Devco, Kevin W. Bradley, ASQ-CQE of NLC Energy, Daniel Gage of The Transport Project, Michael Jensen of WM, and Brian Vanderbloemen of Bloom Energy. Thanks for sharing information about your successful projects and the #BenefitsofBiogas! #biogas #AnaerobicDigesters #methanecapture

A new biogas plant is now online in Hilbert, #Wisconsin. Located near the Hickory Meadows landfill, it can process 3,200 cubic feet of landfill gas (LFG) per minute—that’s enough gas to heat 13,000+ homes annually! This is the first renewable gas plant in Wisconsin by Saturn Renewables LLC, a company created as a partnership between Archaea Energy and GFL Environmental Inc. Archaea opened its first renewable gas plant in Indiana last fall, and it expects to complete 15-20 new plants in 2025! https://lnkd.in/gU6q4WWr #Landfills #WasteManagement #BenefitsOfBiogas #LandfillGas

A staggering 1.4 million scfm of biogas may be available for capture at U.S. landfills, equating to the electricity consumption of 4.6 million U.S. homes for one year. Here’s why ⤵️⤵️ 741 landfills in the U.S. are classified as potential new landfill gas (LFG) sites that are suitable for development, according to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s Landfill Methane Outreach Program (LMOP). Of those: ⚡28 are under construction ⚡97 are planned ⚡459 are marked as candidates ⚡15 have future potential #RenewableEnergy
