I’m incredibly proud to have been part of the “Meet the Filmmaker: Reha Erdem at the Turkish Film Festival” event, held at the National Museum of Asian Art’s Freer Gallery, in partnership with the Smithsonian Institution. This remarkable event wouldn’t have been possible without the tireless dedication, creativity, and collaboration of an amazing team of individuals who gave so much of themselves to make it a reality. From the behind-the-scenes organization to the stunning execution, every moment was an hard evidence to their hard work. 🙏 A special thanks to: - Reha Erdem, for your movies and insightful discussions with the audience. - Sevtap Schreffler, for your leadership in coordinating every detail. - Demet Cabbar, Özlem Akkaya, Burak Geyikci, for managing logistics with precision and grace. - Elvan Ramazanogullari, for managing our social media. - Nefin Dinç, for making the audience engagement so impactful. - Ottoman Taverna, for sponsoring our wonderful closing reception. - All ATA-DC board members, for your continuous support of Turkish culture and cinema. I feel truly blessed to be surrounded by such passionate, selfless people who are always ready to go above and beyond. Your contributions made this event one to remember! Here’s to many more successful events, including Turkish Festival in October 20 in Washington DC. #Gratitude #EventRecognition #Leadership #Teamwork #TurkishFilmFestival #Smithsonian #ATADC #RehaErdem #ThankYou

It was a pleasure to spend time with @ATA-DC’s Young Cultural Ambassadors (YCAs) this weekend as we paid a visit to the Turkish American TV studios located at Fairfax Public Access, where they gained insights into the significance of public broadcasting. Established in 2005, TATV stands as a non-profit media organization dedicated to empowering the Turkish American community by broadcasting TV programs that shed light on Turkish culture and the accomplishments of Turkish-Americans. During their visit, the YCAs, all high school students, had the opportunity to hear from Hurriyet Ok, the founder of TATV, as well as Erkan Polat and Courtney Clarke, both members of TATV, who shared insights into various aspects of media production and journalism. YCAs also had the chance to explore the backstage areas and production rooms, and even tried their hand at being in front of the cameras in the studio. The ATA-DC's YCA program empowers high school students by expanding their horizons through knowledge acquisition, volunteer opportunities, and cultural exchange initiatives. Moreover, it aims to cultivate and fortify their leadership abilities, fostering personal growth and development. I was delighted to have fellow ATADC Board Members Gamze Cakmak and Ozge Ovun Sert with me during the visit. They played pivotal roles in founding TATV, and shared their experiences from the early days of TATV. @turkishamericantv American Turkish Association of Washington DC (ATA-DC) Hurriyet Aydin Ok Ozge Ovun Sert Tugba Erpek #atadc #atadc1965 #YCAP #ycap2024 #turkishamericantelevision #studio #production
