Exciting news flowing in! The #InDEEPrize has announced the winners of Phase II! 🌊 🏆 The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) awarded 15 teams $80,000 each for their groundbreaking work creating distributed embedded energy converters (DEECs) that can be applied to energy conversion. In Phase II, competitors developed and tested their individual DEEC concepts at the benchtop scale. Moving into Phase III, the teams will interconnect their DEECs into versatile metamaterials that can support wave energy conversion, and then present their final concepts at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in early 2025. This week, nine data track teams competing in the Digitizing Utilities Prize Round 2 were named Phase 1 winners! The selected teams were awarded $75,000 in cash prizes each for their proposed solutions to #utility challenges across the U.S. For the electricity sector to fully utilize the data it is creating, it must undergo a massive transformation in how it manages data quality, storage, and processing,” said Sandy Jenkins, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Electricity Grid Controls Division director. “We’re confident that the teams moving on to Phase 2 of this prize have strong, outside-the-box solutions to transform power utilities’ data into actionable and reliable information while staying on pace with ever-evolving cyber threats.” Read more about the innovative solutions each team will develop and refine in Phase 2: https://bit.ly/3zZ0EIA
