Today API Executive Vice President and Chief Advocacy Officer Amanda Eversole testified before the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Energy Subcommittee on unleashing American oil and natural gas. She discussed with lawmakers how important it is to have smart, bipartisan policy from Washington to build on our nation’s energy leadership. With support from Congress and the new administration, America’s oil and natural gas industry can help keep our economy strong and bolster national security, all while continuing shared commitments to environmental performance and innovation. “It has never been more vital that the U.S. control our energy future. This Committee and Congress should seize the opportunity to pass meaningful legislation that will move our country forward.”

Today API held its annual State of American Energy, where policymakers, industry leaders and small business owners came together to discuss how a pro-energy Washington can seize America's energy opportunity. In his keynote address, API President and CEO Mike Sommers highlighted a number of pressing energy issues for Congress and the incoming Trump administration to begin to address on Day One, as outlined in API’s Five Point Policy Roadmap. We want to thank Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) and House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Bruce Westerman (R-AR) for joining us to share their perspectives on the future of American energy and how Washington can reinstate commonsense energy policies. “Most importantly, let’s seize the American Energy Opportunity to deliver the bold leadership our nation demands and deserves,” said API President and CEO Mike Sommers. “America’s energy future begins now. Together, we have the opportunity to lead it.” https://lnkd.in/etutwsHa

As the clock is about to strike midnight for the current administration, it has withdrawn 625 million offshore acres off America’s costs from future oil and natural gas development. That’s quite a blow for future American energy security and potential economic growth. It also dismisses the fact that most American voters last fall said they support increased domestic oil and natural gas production. API President and CEO Mike Sommers calls on Congress and the incoming Trump administration to address the offshore withdrawals legislatively, restoring a pro-American energy approach to federal leasing. https://lnkd.in/eyXQpbd6

Reacting to the Biden administration’s new offshore oil & natural gas drilling ban, Mike Sommers on Fox Business Network's Mornings with Maria: “I'm calling today on the United States Congress to lift this new moratorium because it's going to harm consumers and it's going to undermine American energy security.”

API’s President & CEO Mike Sommers responds to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s new study on the impact of U.S. LNG exports: “After nearly a year of a politically motivated pause that has only weakened global energy security, it’s never been clearer that U.S. LNG is critical for meeting growing demand for affordable, reliable energy while supporting our allies overseas.” Meanwhile, a new study from S&P Global lays out the clear benefits of continued LNG exports: Domestic economic growth while reducing the U.S. trade deficit. Increased global energy security amid a period of geopolitical turmoil. Global reductions in CO2 emissions by switching to U.S. natural gas. It’s time to restore LNG export permits to power our economy and support our allies overseas. More here: https://lnkd.in/eQKgGUdP

NEW: API Senior Vice President of Policy, Economics, and Regulatory Affairs Dustin Meyer addresses the potential disconnect between the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s upcoming study on liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports and real-world data. As the DOE looks to justify its year-long LNG export permit pause, Dustin highlights key findings that contradict the current administration’s concerns about LNG’s impact on U.S. energy prices and more. Time to move past political roadblocks and embrace #LNG exports to support U.S. jobs, energy leadership and global allies. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eEfZDx4e
