My thoughts on gold: 1. Highly speculative investment 2. Poor inflation hedge/low correlation with CPI 3. Lower return and higher risk than investing in the stock market Conclusion: I don’t recommend investing in gold. #gold #investing #investingingold

Attention all high earners who switch companies mid-year!!! 1. Be sure to not contribute to your new 401k this calendar year if you have already maxed out your 401k with your old company! The annual limit is the annual limit for all combined 401k contributions. 2. Even if you have already paid all the Social Security taxes you owe for the current year, your new employer will still withhold SS taxes on your earnings, but it’s ok. You don’t owe the government that extra SS tax $$ and so it will be refunded when you file 😅 #highearners #jobchange #newjob #personalfinance

While Carla Adams primarily invests her clients in model portfolios, the founder and financial advisor at Ametrine Wealth admited that sometimes certain situations arise where a customized portfolio is needed. “I have a few clients with concentrated legacy stock positions with large unrealized gains in taxable accounts; selling it all off at once would have huge tax consequences. After discussing the situation with the client, we typically agree to sell off the shares over the course of several tax years,” she explained. https://lnkd.in/g7xZNyk3

How easy is it to get a hold of your advisor if something comes up and you need to talk? How quickly can you get on their calendar for a formal meeting? Such a question to ask when you’re interviewing potential financial advisors! #financialadvisors #wealthmanagement

Those of you with company stock options, the optimal time to exercise is when the market price of the stock is 2-3 times the strike price if the option. In this video, we give an example that shows when the market price is closer in value to the strike price, the upside potential is huge and worth hanging onto the option, whereas when the market price becomes 2-3+ times the strike price, the upside of holding the option becomes increasingly less and the downside risk becomes increasingly greater.

A few Red Flags when it comes to financial advisors 🚩🚩🚩 1. Advisors who talk down to you, make you feel stupid, make you nervous/afraid to reach out to and ask questions. Pass! 2. You are regularly being reassigned to a new advisor within the firm. No thanks! 3. You do t know how your advisor is being compensated and when you asked, the answer just confuses you more 🚩🚩🚩 #financialadvisors #findingafinancialadvisor #financialadvisorredflags

"Carla Adams, founder and financial advisor at Ametrine Wealth in Lake Orion, Michigan, said given the current cost of college and the trend of tuition inflation, starting to save for college sooner rather than later is key. Funding a plan early gives the account maximum time to accumulate and grow. Ideally, clients should open and begin funding an educational savings account in the child's first year of life, she said." https://lnkd.in/g6XUh32B

If you have a sizable investment portfolio in your taxable brokerage account, do you still need a cash emergency fund? YES, I would definitely recommend that you do! If you end up needing to tap your investment account right when the market takes a big dip, you will have to sell a portion if your investments at the most inopportune time, really setting yourself back from the big market rebound that will eventually come. Yes, you could over the long term make more by investing all of your excess cash, but in this situation risk mitigation takes priority. #brokerageaccount #emergencyfunds #emergencycash #marketvolatility

"When working with clients who have recently lost a loved one, it's most important to keep in mind that the client is unlikely to be thinking clearly and will have gaps in memory," said Carla T. Adams, founder and certified financial planner of Ametrine Wealth in Lake Orion, Michigan. " Repetition, sending summaries of the meetings, and, most importantly, patience and kindness are key." https://lnkd.in/gigQYt_m
