Often reserved for only the most technical projects of the past, architects, engineers, and construction professionals widely utilize cutting edge technologies on a wide variety of new construction and renovation projects in today’s market. Technologies such as LiDAR and photogrammetry for creating precise 3D models of existing spaces, BIM for MEP coordination and clash detection, AI-generated floor layouts for workspace design, advanced project management tools for construction execution, GPR slab scanning, and robotic floor layout have become both more accessible and economically practical over the last decade. We're thrilled to share the completion of a 9,000 SF lab and office renovation for the innovative medical device company Refeyn in Waltham, MA. Refeyn pioneers analytical instruments that measure molecular mass, providing vital insights for scientific discovery, R&D, and therapeutics production. Their mass photometry technologies offer intuitive data in minutes, helping scientists optimize R&D processes and focus on innovation. This project marks a significant milestone for Refeyn as they establish a major presence in the US from the UK. We successfully renovated their existing office, BSL-1, and BSL-2 lab spaces with laser safe specifications. The labs now feature new workbenches, laser safety systems, and upgraded gas and MEP systems. The office space boasts an open workspace area, an upgraded café, and a large conference room with a demountable glass partition. Special thanks to our project partners: The Steele Group, Chapman Construction/Design, OTJ Architects, and Avid Engineers. Together, we created an innovative, cutting-edge lab and office environment for Refeyn.
