Congratulations to the Ameresco team and their partners on the opening of Keller Canyon, a state-of-the-art facility and California's largest landfill gas-to-renewable natural gas (RNG) plant. Keller Canyon is a strong example of the potential of smart organic waste management and methane mitigation. Through the capture of one of the post potent greenhouse gases – methane, Keller Canyon will transform it into a valuable resource – renewable natural gas – that can be used beyond the transportation sector and eventually help power homes and businesses across California.
Together with Republic Services, we’ve opened California’s largest landfill gas-to-renewable natural gas (RNG) plant at Keller Canyon. This innovative project will turn landfill gas into clean energy delivered to Pacific Gas and Electric Company, reducing 62,000 metric tons of carbon emissions each year — equivalent to removing 30,000 cars from the road. It’s a major step forward for sustainability and renewable energy in California, and we’re excited to keep driving the future of clean energy forward.
