Bringing families and best friends together for more than 80 years!

About us

Founded in 1938, Animal Rescue Rhode Island (ARRI) takes in abandoned, abused, and surrendered animals without geographic limitation and nurtures them to be adopted as pets in loving homes. Placing more than 600 pets per year, ARRI has found wonderful homes for thousands of cats and dogs (and even some rabbits and guinea pigs!). ARRI fosters animals by following a philosophy where no animal is ever euthanized because of time, space, breed, or humanely treatable condition. Additionally, ARRI offers humane education classes and operates a very active pet food pantry, providing pet food to pet owners experiencing financial challenges. ARRI provides tens of thousands of pet meals each year, with the goal of keeping families and their pets together. Through the generosity of compassionate donors, directors, staff, and volunteers, we are dedicated to making a difference for the hundreds of homeless animals we save every year, as well as for their adoptive families and for the broader community we serve..
