The U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) has unveiled plans to award $2.4 million in contracts to twelve small American businesses through its Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. This funding will support the Complete Streets AI Initiative, aimed at developing new decision support tools for state, local, and Tribal transportation agencies to enhance the planning and implementation of Complete Streets. Each company will receive $200,000 in Phase I awards to demonstrate AI-based methods for improving transportation infrastructure.

Newsflash: Deadline extended to April 1, 2024 to Submit a Proposal to Present at the APBP 2024 Conference We want to hear about best practices, successes, and challenges providing safe, accessible, comfortable walk and biking conditions for all. The proposal deadline for the 2024 Conference in Detroit, Michigan has been extended to Monday, April 1 at noon Pacific Time. Join colleagues, friends, advocates, and experts from August 12-14 for excellent training that will take your work and your career to the next level! You won't want to miss seeing the Joe Louis Greenway underway in Detroit, meeting the excellent bicycle clubs, and seeing in person the new bridge to Canada, which will connect Detroit and Windsor with a walk/bike option. All sessions and presentations at the 2024 Conference will be in-person. This annual call is highly competitive. Proposals will be reviewed and ranked by the Programming Committee and additional Reviewers. APBP is looking for proposals for the following presentation types: Workshop (2.5-3 hours) Panel Session (75 minutes) Quick Shot (6 min 40 sec) Poster Presenter (including Student Poster Presenters) The deadline to submit proposals is Monday, April 1, 2024 at noon Pacific Time. Proposal submitters will be notified of the status of their proposal no later than May 24, 2024. Proposal speakers accepted for presentation are required to register for the APBP Conference.
