Creating a safer world through the prevention of infection.
About us
The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) is the leading professional association for infection preventionists (IPs) with more than 15,000 members. Our mission is to create a safer world through the prevention of infection. This is achieved by the provision of better care to promote better health at a lower cost. Many IPs are employed within healthcare institutions and also serve as educators, researchers, consultants, and clinical scientists. The majority of APIC members are affiliated with acute care settings. An increasing number practice in ambulatory and outpatient services where they direct programs that protect patients and personnel from HAIs. Members are also involved in long-term care, home health, and other practice settings where infection prevention and control is an increasing area of responsibility for nurses and other healthcare personnel.

IP Barbie wanted to step back this morning to shine a little light on the real world IPs out there doing the real work. Pictured are a few of the brilliant, passionate, and inspiring Infection Preventionists that I am so lucky to have on my team! Being an IP is a hard job and we can often feel very defeated when we identify healthcare associated infections. We care about the patients being harmed, but we also care about the healthcare professionals involved in the care of those patients. HAIs are never intended. I am so proud of the work my team does to engage, mentor, educate, and collaborate with healthcare professionals every day to support them and think outside the box to prevent HAIs. This week, we have had a lot of fun playing games and providing real time education to all healthcare professionals at Inspira Health. #infectioncontrol #infectionprevention #iipw
