    Arnold & Porter has been shortlisted for the “Innovative Lawyers in Pro Bono” category at the 2024 Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards, which celebrates the “innovated ways lawyers are delivering value for clients and driving positive change in the profession.” The team was recognized for their work in C.M., et al. v. United States, in which they sought justice for asylum-seeking families forcibly separated by the United States government. Working with immigration and civil rights organizations, over 230 Arnold & Porter lawyers and staff put in over 27,000 hours litigating a first-of-its-kind lawsuit, serving as coordinating counsel in global settlement efforts, and representing clients in immigration proceedings.     California’s recent enforcement action against Exxon Mobil for alleged false advertising and nuisance claims related to plastic recycling marks the latest in a growing trend of plastics-related litigation. The state claims Exxon misled the public with promises that "advanced recycling" could solve the plastic waste crisis, despite knowing it was economically unfeasible.
