We have mutual aid assistance agreements with most of the surrounding municipalities in the Fox River Valley area. In addition to fire suppression, the department provides a full range of fire prevention, life safety education, emergency medical first responder and rescue response services.

Today, we remember the 343 firefighters, 72 police officers, 55 military personnel, and 2,507 civilians who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. We also pause to remember the more than 1,400 rescue workers who have died from exposure to toxins found at ground zero. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Sunday, September 8, 2024 RESIDENTIAL FIRE IN APPLETON {APPLETON, WIS., Sunday, September 8, 2024} – Appleton Fire Department responds to an incident this evening. At approximately 9:40 PM, Appleton Fire Department was dispatched to an apartment fire in the 1700 Block of East Longview St. in Appleton. The initial call indicated smoke and fire showing from a second story apartment. Upon arrival, fire companies found a second-floor unit with significant fire involvement. Fire companies made and aggressive interior attack and searched the structure for occupants, one occupant was removed from a balcony by ladder . Companies brought the fire under control within 20 minutes. Firefighters are working to determine a cause. Properly working smoke alarms were present and operating when fire companies arrived on scene. Damage to the building and contents are estimated to be $200,000.00. The Appleton Fire Department was assisted by Appleton Police Department, Little Chute Fire Department, American Red Cross, Gold Cross Ambulance and WE energies. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Thursday, September 5, 2024 GAS LEAK IN THE CITY OF APPLETON {APPLETON, WIS., Thursday, September 5, 2024} – Appleton Fire Department responds to an incident this morning. At approximately 11:15 AM, Appleton Fire Department was dispatched to a gas leak at Xavier Elementary School, located at 1810 N McDonald Street in Appleton. The initial call indicated there was a potential gas leak in the area and that students were being relocated to a nearby school. Fire companies found a minor gas leak outside of the building. There were no reported injuries.
