The NCTM recently released their Position Statement on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Mathematics Teaching (https://lnkd.in/g2b3QfMe). 🔍 In our latest blog post (https://lnkd.in/gUm4Tzus), we delve into the nuances of this statement, appreciating its thoughtful stance on the use of Generative AI in mathematics education. We also point to shortcomings of the current position paper, including: * A lack of discussion of collaborative learning. * Unquestioning acceptance of the idea that Generative AI can lead to more culturally responsive education. * The role of students in identifying bias in AI. Read the full post and join the conversation as we dissect the strengths and limitations of the NCTM's perspective, and how to best use Generative AI for math education. #EducationTechnology #MathEducation #AIinEducation #NCTM #EdTech #Teaching #LearningSciences

Isn’t it too late to make end-of-year predictions? Yes, it is, if you are making them for 2024 — But here are my 2025 predictions regarding (what else but) the use of AI in education! In a nutshell: By the end of 2024 disillusionment with the current use of generic AI models for hyperpersonalized education environments will finally set in, and in 2025 we will see AI solutions that are asset oriented, build on student strengths, and support collaboration. Read more at: https://lnkd.in/g3_hMVhQ Also, a shout out to Ryan Baker's team, Matt Miller of OKO, and Nonye Alozie and her team at SRI Education for providing a vision toward a productive use of AI in 2025!
