We kicked off Year 2 at Canisius University in July, starting with freshmen orientation. This follow-up session led by Director of University Success James Nowak focuses on ULLC students using Arbol to create financial plans for the semester. With Arbol, these students are proactively addressing their financial needs, setting themselves up for financial stability and resilience throughout their college journey.

Students will be back on campus in a matter of weeks, and it’s time to make sure they’re financially prepared for the task at hand. Arbol’s personal checklist for incoming students starts at a few basic questions…   ✅ Are you confident your students understand their college bill, including financial aid and how much they owe?   ✅ Do students have a handle on their broader financial situation, including a detailed summary of their expenses and income?   That’s the starting point for a robust financial wellness program for students. Last week, the Pell Institute hosted the 41st Annual Student Financial Aid Research Network at the University of Maryland College Park. We led had a great discussion with Jenna Bichler from Erie Community College, James Nowak from Arbol, and David Gonzalez from Arbol about ways to implement and scale financial advising and the role of emergency aid for students on campus. Pringle-Onwunaka from Texas Woman's University and Juan Gallardo from University of North Texas share best practices in driving financial education engagement.
