Where Texas meets the World.

About us

Founded in 2001, the Archer Center is where Texas meets the world. As the Washington, D.C., campus of The University of Texas System, the Center provides talented undergraduate, graduate, and medical students from across the UT System with the opportunity to live, learn, and intern in the nation's capital. Our Mission: We educate the next generation of leaders for local, state, federal, and international service by offering varied experiential learning programs for undergraduate, graduate, and medical students from The University of Texas System. Our Community Standards: The Archer Center encourages healthy and productive discourse on its social media channels. We ask that followers of this page treat each other with courtesy and respect and refrain from inappropriate language, hate speech, and bullying. We reserve the right to delete any comments that fall outside of these core values. The Archer Center, and, by extension, the Archer Fellow Alumni Association, is considered a state agency within The University of Texas System. State agencies are prohibited from using state resources (including this social media channel) for politically-affiliated or campaign-related fundraising purposes. While campaign fundraising and political posts are not permitted in this Facebook group, alumni may share brief, informational posts notifying the alumni community if they are running for elected office. We encourage alumni to share all job and internship postings via our alumni platform, AFAA Connect: alumni.archercenter.org.

💡 Archer in Action: D.C. Update! 🌎📍 Our Fall 2024 Archer Fellow, Luke Christensen, is taking advantage of his time in Washington, D.C. this semester. Read about his experience: "The last few weeks have been very exciting. During the last week of orientation, we were able to have class in the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing room, which was an incredibly cool classroom experience, and one of my favorite moments so far. Both of my #internships have started, and I am learning an immense amount through both of those experiences. Last weekend we had the chance to participate in a wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. The chance to honor the sacrifices that so many men and women have made for this country was an amazing experience, and one that I will not forget. Another highlight for me was watching Forest Gump on the national mall between the #Capital building and the #WashingtonMonument. It was an iconic American moment. On the weekends I have been biking and exploring the city. Everything is very busy and amazing right now!" Follow along for more updates from Luke! #ArcherInAction #ArcherFellow2024 #Archer2024 #UTPB #ShepperdLeader The Archer Center The University of Texas Permian Basin

At The Archer Center, we honor and celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month by recognizing the invaluable contributions of Hispanic and Latinx communities to our nation. We loved seeing this recent post from Summer 2022 Graduate Archer Fellow Diana Long, M.Ed. While in Washington, D.C., Diana interned with Excelencia in Education, a nonprofit organization that accelerates Latino student success in higher education.

This past weekend, our Fall 2024 Archer Fellows had the honor of participating in a deeply meaningful tradition—the wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery. This solemn moment of reflection reminds us of the countless sacrifices made in service to our country. The Archer Center is honored to share in this tradition with our Archer Fellows as they continue their journey as engaged, informed leaders.

Our Archer Fellows had an exciting and productive morning on the Hill! Staff members connected with the current cohort at Ebeneezer's Coffeehouse for coffee and conversation, a beloved Archer Center tradition. ☕ Meanwhile, a few of our fellows had the opportunity to meet U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy (LA) at a Ripon Society event, thanks to a special invitation from our co-founder and Archer Center Advisory Board Chairman, Don Carlson.
