Honored and Excited to announce that along with Nicolle León Mata and Lilyana Schilling we have received the third prize award for the Minimal Dwelling Competition presented by Archiol - Design Competitions It has been a complete pleasure getting to work with my very talented teammates to create this design that will forever impact my time as a student at FIU College of Communication, Architecture + The Arts Project description: We wanted this home to provide sanctuary from the busy Tokyo city for the couple. This project revolves around the idea of slowing of time. The circulation of this project is in a spiral shape where one experiences every part of the house as they ascend each program in a loop. Space is expanded by breaking up the program into floating floor plates. This not only increase usable area in our small site but also creates pauses as one must step to enter a new space. The rings of the facade where inspired by the ring house. Here we use the rings to frame views in every step which again makes the space feel larger. The panorama views also add a feeling of intensity as one ascends through every floor in a spiral rhythm creating an experience of slowing time and appreciating small moments throughout the interiors.
