Join us as we get New Salem Missionary Baptist Church - NSMBC and some of the surrounding homes cleared of debris and trees. DATE: Sunday 10/20/2024 TIME: 8:30AM LOCATION: 8525 N 78th Street, Tampa, FL 33637 BRING: Saws, Chainsaws, Wheel Barrels, Rakes, Ladders, Tarps, Blowers and Gloves DONATIONS: Shelf Stable Food (Beans, Rice, Soup, and Similar) I am also collecting shelf stable food for either this location's food pantry or for ECHO in Brandon. Please bring their own work gloves if possible and if you have tools we could really use chainsaws, blowers, tarps, ladders, wheel barrels, rakes and similar. I will have garbage bags and yard refuse bags, waters, gatorades and snacks available provided by AREAA Greater Tampa Bay! If you come later in the morning. As Tampa Bay is working towards recovery - I sit in the light of lantern praying my mobile hotspot stays strong enough to send this post. I know that AREAA have far reaching ties across not only in the US but world-wide and so hope that my request to help our community will be heard. We have members, families, clients, and our community reeling from the double blow of hurricanes. We still have displaced families from the flooding during Helene, that brought unpresidented flooding to St Petersburg, our beautiful Barrier Islands, South Tampa, and so many other areas. This was not just flooding but storm surge flooding that was quick and brought contaminated water into these homes; 3 to 6 feet destroying sometimes everything people owned. Now we have the wind and flooding of Milton which even destroyed the roof of our beloved Tropicana Field in St Petersburg. We had rain which flooded different areas of our communities that had survived Helene and reflooded areas that were just trying to recover.
