Recycle Myers is back with another recycling scare—styrofoam! 🎃 Styrofoam isn't just a nightmare for your blue bin, but for the environment too. Styrofoam takes around 500 years to break down in a landfill! Avoid it if you can, but if you can’t, make sure to throw it in the trash. #RecyclingNightmares #RecycleRight #AZRecycles #RecycleMyers

Our ADEQ Waste Program team got their hands dirty for a great cause! 🌻🌿 They recently teamed up with Let’s Go Compost to give the school garden at Rover Elementary in Tempe a fresh start for fall! Shoutout to J.B. Happy #HispanicHeritageMonth 🎉 Today, we’re excited to shine the spotlight on Dean Moulis, Senior Environmental Engineer in ADEQ’s Groundwater and Water Reuse Section. Dean has shared an incredible piece of his family’s history with us—a hand-drawn family tree created in 1998 in Hayden, #AZ, featuring dozens of his relatives. It’s a beautiful testament to his family’s deep roots and connections! Food is at the heart of Dean’s family traditions. His tia even compiled a cookbook called ‘Buen Provecho,’ filled with their delicious recipes. Dean says his family’s refried beans are the best, but he does have some advice on other dishes: “Pozole should have frijoles, hominy, and ox tail. Raisins do not belong in tamales, and chopped pickles go on tacos!” #HispanicHeritage #HHM2024

Way to go, Brophy College Preparatory! 🙌 Check out this video from students showing their progress after receiving a $27,371.50 grant from ADEQ. The grant helped them buy a baler to support their zero waste goals and, so far, they’ve already collected over 3,000 pounds of cardboard! 📦 By baling cardboard and aluminum cans to sell, they’re raising funds to expand their composting program. Plus, they’re turning campus green waste into mulch for their garden beds, creating a #circulareconomy right on campus.
