Exciting news! 🗞 The Arizona Office of Outdoor Recreation, which serves as a hub of strategy, support and collaboration for the success of the state’s $11.7 billion outdoor recreation industry, is expanding its capabilities by establishing a full-time program administrator at Arizona State Parks and Trails (ASPT), with continued support from our office. The outdoor recreation office was created within AOT in Nov. 2022 as a response to conversations with several public and private stakeholders who expressed a desire for state-level guidance on issues impacting the use, fair access and conservation of Arizona’s wide array of multi-use public lands. Over the course of 11 amazing months, our team, along with our partners Welcome Strategies and Heart & Soul Marketing, embarked on “Discovering Arizona”: the largest listening effort ever hosted in the State of Arizona. We traveled all across the state and engaged more than 2,000 Arizonans as we discovered what residents love most about their diverse communities. And during these heartfelt conversations, we discovered that while we celebrate our differences and what makes us unique, there’s one undeniable passion that unites us all—a fierce love for our state. Our work for the future of Arizona was shaped by our state’s unique voices and our collective, unwavering pride. And for that, we thank you.

11 months. 57 cities. 2,000+ residents. Connecting with Arizonans during our #DiscoveringArizona Listening Tour to learn what they treasure most about their communities was an all-time highlight experience. Building our state identity from the voices of so many Arizonans was as exciting as it was crucial to ensure our state brand’s authenticity. Take a look at where we visited!
