About us

Arlington/Roe was founded in 1964 by Francis Roe, father of president and owner, James A. Roe, and is respected nationwide as a Managing General Agent and Excess & Surplus Lines Broker. Begun as a general agent for mobile home insurance, Arlington/Roe has expanded to include other specialties: Personal Lines, Commercial Property and Liability (Underwriting and Brokerage), Commercial Auto/Transportation, Aviation, Bonds, Professional Liability, Workers' Compensation and Healthcare & Human Services. For over 60 years Arlington/Roe has offered professional expertise, access to specialty and E&S markets, and provided our agency and company partners with stability in changing markets. Our staff of 230+ individuals brings their combined experience using triage and constant communication to underwrite and market complex insurance transactions. Close to half of our staff has a professional designation or is working towards one. Arlington/Roe is a leader in the wholesale insurance community with active involvement in the Wholesale & Specialty Insurance Association (WSIA), The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers (CIAB), Aviation Insurance Association (AIA), Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS), CPCU, Society of CIC, Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers Association (BIG I), Professional Insurance Agents Association (PIA), and other industry organizations. James A. Roe was the American Association of Managing General Agents president, 1999-2000. Arlington/Roe is now a third-generation family business. Jim Roe's oldest son, Andy, is an executive vice president and chief operating officer; Patrick, Jim's second oldest son, is also an executive vice president and chief sales and marketing officer. Jim's wife, Vickie, is in personal lines customer service.

    Congratulations to Jack Lenahan, who has been promoted to Commercial Property Associate Broker! Jack joined Arlington/Roe in 2022 as a commercial assistant broker and was promoted to Commercial Property Associate Broker in 2024. He formerly worked in sales at Spot Pet Insurance. Prior to that, he had two internships in the medical field while in college. Jack earned a Bachelor of Arts in Media from Indiana University and obtained his Property & Casualty license in 2021. His favorite aspect of his career in the insurance industry is problem-solving and being able to protect individuals through his work. "Jack has played a crucial role in our remarkable property and inland marine growth.     Arlington/Roe associates, Rachel Friday, PLCS , Lisa Clink , Cindy Larson and Aimi Kunesh, had the pleasure to attend the First Annual LeadHERship Summit hosted by the Big I of MN in Minneapolis. The event was a resounding success, selling out the venue with over 100 attendees coming together from all across the state. Attendees had the opportunity to learn from one another and various speakers as they made meaningful connections with those in the industry. Rachel represented Arlington/Roe as a panelist for the LeadHERship Summit panel. This energizing LeadHERship Summit brought to light the unique experiences and qualities women have that make them assets in this industry. We want to express our gratitude to the Big I MN for organizing such a fantastic event and giving us the opportunity to help women in the industry connect and empower one another!

    #NewHireAlert🚨 Please welcome Michelle Walker to the Professional Liability team! She is a Professional Lines Brokerage Assistant. She initially worked for the company as an associate broker in 2021 and decided to leave to pursue a position with an excess surplus lines’ carrier as a commercial lines’ assistant underwriter. Prior to joining Arlington/Roe, Michelle held positions in sales and underwriting for State Farm, Nationwide, Westfield Specialty and Philadelphia Insurance. She began her insurance career in 1996 at Grange Insurance for the First Notice of Loss Rejoining call center. Michelle’s favorite aspect of her chosen career includes the continuous opportunity to learn and be intellectually challenged. She also enjoys the complex and nuanced atmosphere of working with talented professionals and offering in-depth industry knowledge to business sectors. In her spare time, Michelle enjoys taking walks with her dog, spending time with her granddaughter and hanging out with her friends and family. #GrowWithRoe

    #NewHireAlert 🚨Please welcome Debbie Craig to the Commercial Binding team! She is a Commercial Binding Senior Underwriter. She initially worked for Arlington/Roe as a commercial lines underwriter in 2018 and retired in 2021, but she has since decided to come out of retirement part-time. Her background in insurance includes both company and MGA experience in commercial underwriting. In addition, Debbie has earned the AINS and AIS designations. Her favorite aspect of a career in insurance includes building relationships between agents and problem-solving. She also enjoys the challenge of the E&S business. When she’s not working, Debbie likes to spend time with her husband, Tim, and their children and grandchildren. She also enjoys boating, fishing, late night bonfires with her family, and spending winters at her Florida condo. #GrowWithRoe

    #NewHireAlert 🚨 Please welcome Sam Watts to the Professional Liability team! He joined Arlington/Roe as a Professional Liability Senior Broker. Prior to joining Arlington/Roe, Sam worked as the director of operations for the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) Agency in Indianapolis for six years. During his time at NAMIC, he also served as a senior customer service representative and customer service team leader. Additionally, Sam has experience working with a variety of small commercial and personal lines clients at Hylant Insurance. He began his insurance career in 2006 at State Farm as an intern. He then worked at the Jim Metzler State Farm Agency as a multiple line sales and service representative. Sam graduated from Ball State University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in marketing and minor in psychology. Sam holds both a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Management Liability Insurance Specialist (MLIS) designation. Sam's favorite aspect of his chosen career is meeting agent producers and establishing working relationships. He is also fascinated by learning about emerging risks and expanding his insurance product knowledge. He enjoys finding new solutions for various risks and being a trusted advisor to meet policy placement needs that emerge as a result of the changing world. Sam is involved with the Big I of Indiana and was honored to serve as its Young Agents/Emerging Leaders Committee chair from 2017 to 2018. He is also a member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS) and volunteers at the Boys and Girls Club in Noblesville. In his spare time, Sam enjoys spending time with his family, going to parks, swimming, golfing, bike riding and helping coach his son's baseball team. #GrowWithRoe

    #NewHireAlert 🚨Please welcome Katie Garner to the Marketing team! Katie joined Arlington/Roe in 2024 as a Communications Assistant. Prior to joining Arlington/Roe, Katie worked at Color Me Mine in Carmel as the assistant manager where she was responsible for creating marketing displays, making custom-designed pieces for customers and training new hires. Katie graduated with Highest Distinction from Indiana University Kokomo (IUK) with a major in marketing and a minor in psychology. While obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Business degree, Katie endured a consistent 4.0 GPA throughout her entire academic career. Katie was also inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Honor Society as well as the Psi Chi International Psychology Honors Society and was selected as Indiana University Kokomo's 2024 Outstanding Marketing Student. During her time at IUK, Katie broadened her academic horizons by studying abroad in Denmark and Sweden, focusing on business sustainability and ecological economics. Katie is motivated by her passion for continuous learning and growth. She thrives in ever-changing business landscapes and remains committed to a customer-centric mindset. Katie also seeks dynamic relationships that encourage experimentation and creativity as well as collaborative environments that provoke personal development.
