Last week, Artnet was a media partner of the 16th Deloitte Private Art & Finance Conference, which took place in Luxembourg. With more than 900 registrations, the conference examined the rise of impact investing to quantifying social impact, showing how investors and philanthropists can benefit from backing the cultural & creative economy to drive meaningful change. After the conference, we spoke to Adriano Picinati di Torcello, Global Art & Finance Coordinator, Deloitte to gain further insight into the discussions. These are the key event takeaways: 1. The rise of impact investing in the cultural and creative sectors demonstrates that, when conditions are favorable, there is potential to enjoy financial returns alongside positive social outcomes. 2. Philanthropists and investors can drive impact by addressing sector undercapitalization; this can be accomplished through innovative funding models that balance financial, social, and environmental returns. 3. Building evidence of impact and low default rates is essential when showing investors the sector’s strong performance and potential for lasting impact.
