🌌✨ Protecting our night skies isn't just for stargazing; it’s about preserving ecosystems, safeguarding wildlife, and caring for our own health. Light pollution disrupts natural cycles, affecting everything from plants to nocturnal animals—and even us. It’s linked to sleep disorders, mental health issues, and more. The good news? We can make a big impact with small, thoughtful changes. 🌙✨ By following these 5 principles of responsible outdoor lighting—keeping it useful, targeted, low-level, controlled, and warm—we can start healing the night. Let’s inspire change together. Share this post to spread the word and help protect our night skies! 🌿🌌✨ #ProtectDarkSkies #EcoFriendlyLighting #AsakuraRobinson #conservation #funfactfriday

We recently spent a day at Blueridge Park, diving into nature and dreaming up new planting plans with our friends @green_star_wetland_plants! 🌿✨ As we explored the site, we were met vibrant flora and curious critters, a reminder of the delicate balance we work to preserve. One surprise? The invasive apple snails and their clusters of baby snails dotting the cattails! 🐌 While invasive species pose a challenge, it’s moments like these that inspire us to keep pushing for solutions that protect our parks and ecosystems. There’s so much potential at Blueridge Park, and we’re excited to nurture the beauty that already exists there while planning for an even more sustainable future. What’s your favorite park memory or plant encounter? Share with us in the comments! 🌸💬 #AsakuraRobinson #NatureInTheCity #GreenSpaces #NatureLovers #GreenSpaces #CommunityMatters

✨ Today, we honor the original stewards of Mother Earth, celebrate Indigenous resilience, and uplift the vibrant cultures of Indigenous peoples worldwide! 🌍✨ As we reflect, let’s deepen our understanding of Indigenous communities and strengthen our role as allies. Here are a few meaningful steps we can all take: 🌱 Seek out Indigenous resources to learn about the impacts of colonialism and the rich histories of the lands we call home. 🌿 Build relationships and foster open conversations, creating spaces where Indigenous voices are centered and heard. 🌸 Respect the sovereign rights of Indigenous peoples, allowing them to share their stories in their own words. 🌼 Connect with nature mindfully. Listen, reflect, and express gratitude for the earth around us. Together, let’s honor, learn, and advocate for Indigenous voices—today and always. ✊🌿 #IndigenousPeoplesDay #AsakuraRobinson #Allyship #EarthStewards #IndigenousVoices

We’re feeling inspired after our team’s experience with the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Health Leaders Network in Vancouver! 💡✨ Connecting with professionals from across urban planning, real estate, architecture, and healthcare, we dove deep into how the built environment impacts health and social equity. From thoughtful design that promotes well-being to creating more equitable spaces for all, the discussions were a powerful reminder of the change we can bring to our communities. 🌿💫 Check out our team's takeaways from the event: "Great projects don't happen with one organization/voice, it takes partnership and a village to create a project that works and is meaningful for many people. And sometimes, when finally bringing a historically marginalized voice to the table, there needs to be a strong recognition that "change happens at the speed of trust", and to be willing and open to sharing and listening to knowledge and experience. One impactful example I learned from this, is the partnership of the First Nations through the MST Development Corporation, and the support and partnership they have with the City, Province, and Federal Government,  to work on developments that really showcase ancestral practices and First Nations' connections and values towards nature, design through storytelling, and the mindset of planning for 7 generations ahead." Want to learn more about how design shapes health and equity? October 14th is Indigenous Peoples' Day—a day to honor and uplift the original stewards of the lands we call home. 🌍✨ It’s crucial that we not only celebrate their enduring presence but also actively support Indigenous communities in meaningful ways. Here are some ways you can get involved: 1. Attend local events to learn and engage. 2. Educate yourself about the history and the current challenges Indigenous communities face. 3. Donate to Indigenous-led organizations. 4. Shop from Indigenous businesses, artists, and creators. Let’s commit to a more just and respectful future by standing in solidarity with Indigenous communities every day. ✊💛🌎 How will you take action? We'd love to hear about it in the comments! #StandWithIndigenousCommunities #IndigenousPeoplesDay #HonorTheLand #SupportIndigenousCommunities #AsakuraRobinson

Last Saturday, we celebrated the opening of Lockwood on Buffalo Bayou with @buffalobayou! 🎉 This project unites public, private, and nonprofit efforts to craft spaces where everyone can feel like they belong. Lockwood on Buffalo Bayou is Phase 1 of a larger effort to improve connections in and around Buffalo Bayou. We had the honor of designing the play spaces and landscape for this much-needed affordable housing community, ensuring families have beautiful, welcoming places to gather and grow. 🌿💛 The event had free tacos, tours of the development and vibrant art by Gerardo Rosales. ✨ Projects like these are why we do what we do — every community deserves a place that feels like home. 🌸 Let’s create more opportunities like Lockwood ! Tag your city or local leaders to support affordable housing that brings communities together. 🌿💬 Special thanks to: Brinshore Development, @brinshore Buffalo Bayou Partnership, @buffalobayou Gerardo Rosales, @gerardorosalesart Asset Living, @assetliving Humphreys & Partners, @humphreys_arch #LockwoodBuffaloBayou #buffalobayoueast #localartists #AsakuraRobinson #CommunityFirst #LandscapeDesign #BuffaloBayou #AffordableHousing
