September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month (CCAM), which honors children and survivors affected by pediatric cancer in order to raise awareness and continue the research and treatment of the disease. Last Sunday, Asbury kicked off CCAM during the Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research Goldstrong Fest at Bentley Atlanta and Nalley Volkswagen. The event aimed to provide children and their families with a fun filled afternoon away from their medical needs. Attendees participated in outside games, food, and various activities. 🏫As we near the end of August and National Back to School Month, remember that children will be on or near the roads more often. It is important to be aware of road safety rules and practices. Here are some key things to keep in mind: 🚸If you're dropping off, don't load or unload children across the street from the school. 🚦Don't block the crosswalk when stopped at a red light or waiting to make a turn. 🚌Never pass a bus from behind if it is stopped to load or unload children. According to the National Safety Council, most of the children who lose their lives in bus-related incidents are 4 to 7 years old, and they're walking. This is a reminder to stay alert in order to keep the children and students in our communities safe on the roads. #Safety #BecauseWeCare

📚Asbury's Park Place Dealerships participated in multiple school drives throughout the month of August, supporting local students as they headed back to school. Members volunteered their time on August 2nd at the Children's Advocacy Center of Collin County Back to School Fair. Park Place Motorcars Dallas and Porsche supported For Oak Cliff community center, Park Place Motorcars Arlington contributed to Pearcy Stem Academy and the Boys & Girls Club of Arlington, and Park Place Motorcars Fort Worth donated to The Welman Project. Thank you to these team members for their assistance and generous donations. 💡Our Larry H. Miller Volkswagen Lakewood dealership has recently gotten a makeover. The Colorado store has been renovated, demolishing the entire lower level of the showroom and service waiting area. The space has been opened up with the removal of a large wall which blocked off the parts department and made the showroom feel very small. A black tile roof has been added along with drop-down LED light. Additional updates include a retiled service drive, LED lighting, and high-speed doors. The new showroom and service drive has already enhanced team member morale. We are proud to invest in our facilities, and develop a space that team members and guests take pride in.

🏫📚 We are pleased to announce the winners of the 2024 Asbury Scholarship. More than $300,000 was distributed to 123 students for their undergraduate, graduate, and technical school education. 🎒As we entered back-to-school season, Asbury seized an opportunity to support our community partner, North Fulton Community Charities, during their annual Back-to-School Program. Last year, the program collected backpacks and school supplies for more than 1,000 students. This year, Asbury donated over $4,000 in supplies and Nalley Automotive Group team members volunteered, passing out backpacks. We are honored to make a positive impact on the lives of students throughout our community, and set them up for success. 

🎣For the past two years, our Asbury Cares initiative has supported the Take a Kid Fishing Program in Florida. Put on by the Palm Beach County Fishing Foundation, the 35-year tradition champions introducing kids to fishing and marine environments. Asbury supports this program in honor of late General Manager of Mercedes-Benz Ft. Pierce and Coggin Acura, Brian Sattar, who passed away in 2022 after a battle with cancer. Brian loved fishing on his boat, and even purchased a boat to take team members out and enjoy the sea. Along with a $10,000 donation supporting 285 kids, this year Coggin Honda of Ft. Pierce team members volunteered their time on the boats assisting the children. This made for a memorable offshore adventure for the children to experience. #BecauseWeCare #AsburyCares

Have you ever noticed a spike in your home temperature or energy consumption during the summer months? This is a common occurrence as outdoor temperatures rise. Try these tips to help keep your home cool without raising the power bill: ☀️Air conditioner – Consider “supercooling,”— using the AC mainly in the evening and using it lightly by day. 🪟Greenhouse effect – Keeping the right windows covered at the right time of day will help to maintain cool temperatures and reduce the need for air conditioning. 🫧Appliances – Consider using a toaster oven or an air fryer instead of a stove or oven, and wait until the evening to wash laundry or run the dishwasher. ♨️ Ceiling fan – A ceiling fan uses a small fraction of the energy required for the AC, and pushes air downward which lowers the temperature.
