I am often asked, “How do we prepare students for the jobs of the future? The ones that do not exist yet, but will displace the jobs we know?” 🤔 It's not an easy question, and I don't claim to hold the definitive answer, but I took a shot at responding to it in the new issue of EL Magazine which is focused on Growing a Generation of Digital Problem-Solvers. Link below! For those of you who prefer the tl;dr version: "Ultimately, our task as educators is not to predict the future, but to empower our students to shape it. By fostering digital problem-solving skills alongside uniquely human competencies, we can prepare the next generation not just to adapt to change, but to lead it." Would love to hear your own take on the question! https://lnkd.in/eQ_7RwhC ISTE ASCD #Education #EdTech #DigitalLiteracy #Teaching

Zombies can be sneaky and #ZombieLearningTheories can pop up ready to suck your energy. Do not believe the zombie theory that tells you that you will become an expert if you practice something for 10,000 hours. Practice is helpful, but research shows that *how* you practice will be far more important than how long you do it for. This is one of many zombie learning theories that tend to sneak up all year around - not just during the spooky season. See the whole array of theories that keep coming back from the dead. https://lnkd.in/epSx_Z2B Illustrations by Edwin Ouellette #DebunkingMyths #EducationMyths ISTE ASCD

This National Principals Month, we’re reminded of the immense impact that strong school leadership brings to our communities. As Nicole Moore, Principal of Indian Mills School, so aptly puts it: "Strong principal leadership is more important now than ever because of the unique and challenging times we face. A strong principal can serve as a stabilizing force, ensuring that the school remains focused on its core mission: providing a safe, nurturing, and high-quality learning environment for all students." Let’s honor the leaders who keep our schools grounded and guide them through today’s complexities. Thank you, principals, for your unwavering dedication. #ThankAPrincipal NationalPrincipalsMonth #StrongLeadership #SafeSchools #EducationLeadership

Zombie learning theories tell you that a brain is like an empty bucket AND something you need to “fill up” as you learn. That zombie theory doesn’t work because the brain isn’t a bucket you fill with bits of information. In reality, we learn when we attach new concepts to existing knowledge, like Velcro. Share these #ZombieLearningTheories as we get closer to Halloween! https://lnkd.in/epSx_Z2B Illustrations by Edwin Ouellette #DebunkingMyths #EducationMyths ASCD ISTE
