Shipping bulk liquids – The flexitanks evolution. Around the year 2000, a revolution in flexitank design occurred. An improved modern design resulted in flexitanks use expanding considerably providing a cost effective, reliable and high quality way to ship bulk liquids. During this time, another design advancement occurred, the use of 3 separate smaller tanks in a 40’ container. The results of the three tank option were excellent. The three smaller tanks were easy to handle by a single person versus the larger single tank option which requires multiple people to load and remove it from the container. Over time, bulk liquid shippers discovered that the 3-tank system had a standard yield of + 99%, providing lower waste and greater profitability for the shipper. Trade is a cornerstone of Canada's economy, contributing to two-thirds of its GDP. Exports alone support nearly 3.3 million jobs—around 1 in 6 Canadian workers, according to 2023 data. Two key trade agreements, The United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) have been key to trade and economic growth for Canada. The Canadian Pacific (CP) rail network and recent CP acquisition of Kansas City Southern (KC), now CPKC, supports sourcing from Mexico and U.S. trade. It is the first and only railroad to connect Canada, the U.S., and Mexico on a single rail line. CPKC also runs a single-line, four-day service from Mexico to Chicago that competes with single-driver trucks.
