ICYMI: Ashoka Sport for Changemaking and the Homeless World Cup co-hosted a powerful panel at the Cities Ending Homelessness conference in Seoul on creating sport legacy. 🌍 The Homeless World Cup (HWC) is a powerful example of how sport can drive sustainable, community-centered change. At this year’s conference, the focus was clear: legacy isn’t just about buildings or events—it’s about people and community. Mel Young MBE, Founder of the Homeless World Cup, emphasized that “legacy is in the DNA of the HWC,” and it’s the players who define it. Former player and current Big Issue Korea vendor, Young-Soo Moon shared, “At 57 years of age, I was the oldest player, the training was tough. I was able to be proactive and change my life.” The Takeaway: 👉 This is what we need to remember as we discuss the legacy of sport—putting people and communities at the heart of it all. 👉 The Homeless World Cup is leading the way, and there’s so much to learn from how they build lasting change by centering those most impacted.
