Heathcare for All. Advocacy for the Underserved.

About us

Asian Health Services, founded in 1974, provides health, social, and advocacy services for all regardless of income, insurance status, immigration status, language, or culture. Our approach to well-being focuses on "whole patient health", which is why besides primary care we also provide mental health, case management, nutrition, and dental care to more than 27,000 patients in English and over 12 Asian languages: Cantonese, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Khmer, Korean, Tagalog, Mien, Lao, Mongolian, Karen, Karenni, and Burmese. We offer medical, dental, and mental health services for all ages. We also recognize that a patient's health is directly linked to their social and economic circumstances. That's why we are dedicated advocates, and we fight for legislation that make our communities a safer and healthier place to live.

AHS CEO Julia Liou shared the critical importance of California’s Proposition 35 through an editorial recently published in the San Jose Mercury News and East Bay Times. Prop 35 is a ballot measure in the upcoming November 5 election which if passed would support care for 15 million Californians on Medi-Cal and provide dedicated funding--without raising taxes--for primary care, specialty care, emergency room care, mental health services, dental services, and more. YES on Prop 35 guarantees ongoing funding to protect and expand access to care for Medi-Cal patients, including our most vulnerable among us. CDC recommends that all people use core prevention strategies to protect themselves and others from COVID-19: Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines. Although vaccinated people sometimes get infected with the virus that causes COVID-19, staying up to date on COVID-19 vaccines significantly lowers the risk of getting very sick, being hospitalized, or dying from COVID-19. Practice good hygiene (practices that improve cleanliness) Take steps for cleaner air When you are sick: Use precautions to prevent spread, including staying home and away from others (including people you live with who are not sick) if you have respiratory symptoms. Learn when you can go back to your normal activities. Seek health care promptly for testing and/or treatment if you have risk factors for severe illness. Treatment may help lower your risk of severe illness, but it needs to be started within a few days of when your symptoms begin. In addition, there are other prevention strategies that you can choose to further protect yourself and others. Wearing a mask and putting distance between yourself and others can help lower the risk of COVID-19 transmission. Testing for COVID-19 can help you decide what to do next, like getting treatment to reduce your risk of severe illness and taking steps to lower your chances of spreading COVID-19 to others. We are so honored to stand alongside Bruce Lee's wife, daughter Shannon Lee and grand daughter, and the Oakland community with the unveiling of "Bruce Lee Way" on the corner where Bruce Lee's studio once stood. Thank you, Rebecca Kaplan, for your work and effort in making this naming possible. Shannon Lee, thank you for carrying on your dad's legacy and teachings of cross cultural exchange, inclusivity, and health. His influence carries on in Oakland and beyond!

California is facing a hotter, drier climate, making it crucial for us to rethink how we use water every day. Did you know that about 40% of the water we use at home is for outdoor purposes? By reducing yard watering and planting drought-tolerant, local plants, we can conserve this precious resource. Every small action counts! 🌍💧 If we all commit to saving water, we could provide over 1.7 million households with water for an entire year! 💦🏡 Let’s come together to make every drop count. Conserve water daily and help us ensure a sustainable future. 🌱💚 #WaterConservation #SaveWater #SustainableLiving #CaliforniaClimate #EveryDropCounts
