Happy Solar Appreciation Day! ☀️ Today, we’re celebrating the power of the sun—and the record-breaking year solar just had. In 2024, the U.S. installed 50 GW of new solar capacity, the biggest single-year energy addition in over two decades. Solar and storage made up 84% of all new electric capacity, proving that clean energy isn’t just the future—it’s leading the way right now. Why else should we appreciate solar? Domestic solar manufacturing tripled last year, driving new jobs and strengthening the energy supply chain. With projects going up faster and more affordably than ever, solar is creating jobs, boosting the economy, and securing a more resilient energy future. At Aspen Power, we’re proud to be part of this momentum—and pushing for an even brighter tomorrow. #SolarAppreciationDay #CleanEnergy #Sustainability #AspenPower

Maine’s solar incentive program has become an easy target for blame in rising electricity costs—but the data in this article tells a different story. While Maine utility customers face some of the highest electricity prices in the country, the portion of their bills tied to net energy billing—the system that fairly compensates homeowners and businesses for sharing their solar energy—has actually declined in recent months. Meanwhile, the real cost drivers remain fossil fuel price volatility and transmission expenses, which make up a much larger share of utility bills. Despite political efforts to roll back net energy billing, the reality is clear: well-designed solar programs benefit both consumers and the grid. At Aspen Power, we’ve seen this firsthand, and we’re proud to be developing projects in Maine that help power local communities.
