We're pumping it up at our Upper East Side campus to celebrate August's instructor of the month, Brian Salkin! Brian joined Asphalt Green in 2021, following the start of his fitness career in 2015. After spending most of his life disinterested in sports, he got bit by the fitness bug in 2013 when he was introduced to BODYPUMP with some engaging instructors. He quickly saw the life-changing benefits of personal fitness and decided to pay it forward by becoming an instructor! Brian's training philosophy? "I want each participant to know everyone has their own "why." Every participant is on their unique journey. When you compare yourself to someone else, you start to lose your "why." So know that you're unique. You're on your path in fitness." Pump up your core with Brian and see why he's a world-class instructor by booking a class with him on our website!

Our camp Leaders In Training met with Asphalt Green CEO Jordan Brackett earlier this week. Jordan shared his professional journey to Asphalt Green, gave leadership advice, and answered questions during the conversation. We are proud to provide our campers with the tools they need to become future leaders!

The pool is a safe haven for many swimmers, including AGUA Masters swimmer and coach Ryan Lathrum. From developing his love of swimming in Northern California as a child, to earning the best time at the 2024 Masters Nationals as a representative of AGUA Masters, Ryan is a testament to the power of a swimming community. Learn how Asphalt Green empowered Ryan to rekindle his passion for swimming, find community, and offer the gifts of swimming to others.

🏊 Providing equal access to swimming is a team sport and we couldn't ask for better teammates! 🏊 We were thrilled to launch Wave Makers alongside our partners Julie Menin, Shekar Krishnan, and the Gray Foundation last week at @commonpointqueens! This program will provide 2,600 second graders with the critical, life-saving skill of swimming across New York City's five boroughs.

We want to congratulate our soccer Community Sports League for closing out a fantastic 2024 season! ⚽️ For eight weeks, nearly 350 players across 19 teams and three boroughs came through the gates of Asphalt Green to give their all in competitive, well-natured, fun games. We also want to give a huge shout out to our staff who ran the largest league we've ever hosted! A special congratulations to MS161 for ending the season as undefeated champions. We can't wait to see these players back on Litwin Field for the 2025 season!

I don't write about swimming on here, but I am now or at least I am today anyway. 🤷♂️ Swimming has been part of my life since I was 12...it actually WAS my life from age 12 to 22. As a closeted gay person, swimming WAS my identity - it was my life, it was my outlet, it was (for the most part) my safe space. ❤️ After completing my swimming career in 1999 as a member of University of Nevada-Las Vegas Men's and Women's Swim and Dive Team, I didn't really jump back into the water seriously until November 2019 when I joined Asphalt Green's AGUA Masters Swim Team. Best decision ever. 🏊♂️ Since then, I've competed in two U.S. Masters Swimming Nationals, and found a group of people that have become family - and once again swimming has become my safe space. I've been job searching for the past year, and if I didn't have swimming, or my teammates (and my husband obviously), I'm not sure in which mental state I would be. 😬 Last weekend, I competed in my second Masters Nationals, earned best (masters) times in all of my events, and brought home some hardware. Love, love, LOVE my swim fam!
